At the Prince of Wales

Fosse is finger-clicking, shoulder-rolling, hat-brim-holding, torso-twisting, body-hunching, knee-bending good!

I have always thought that Bob Fosse's choreography is something of an acquired taste, but judging by the enthusiasm of the 7 to 70+ audience at the Prince of Wales, an awful lot of people have acquired it.

What the choreographers have done is recreate Fosse's dance routines, either in their entirety (as in Steam Heat from The Pajama Game and Mein Herr from the film version of Cabaret) or from dance elements from shows of which there is no permanent record.

Fosse is exciting, sensual and extremely sexy. All aspects of the production - including the most effective use of intelligent lighting I have seen - combine to create the true Fosse feel, so that we fans can indulge in a veritable orgy of enjoyment!

Would it appeal to non-fans? If they appreciate dance, yes, but if not, I have to say that I think they might find it just a little too much. The show-stoppers - Steam Heat, Mein Herr, Big Spender, Razzle Dazzle, Who's Sorry Now? and Sing, Sing, Sing - all have a wide appeal, but much of the rest would, I suspect, be too much.

For me, however, I can't think of many better ways to spend a dull, chilly Thursday afternoon!

Fosse is currently booking until 3rd September.
