Theatre in the Isle of Man

The Isle of Man is in the Irish Sea, north west of Liverpool and almost directly west of Kendal in the north and Lancaster in the south. On a good day it can be seen from a number of Lake District peaks. It is the home of the famous TT motorcycle races and a popular holiday destination.

There are three theatre venues on the island, two in Douglas, the capital, and one in Port Erin.

The Gaiety Theatre in Douglas is renowned for being one of the best examples of theatre architect Frank Matcham's work and is decorated in a very opulent style. It seats 869 people and is a national touring house.

The other Douglas venue is the Villa Marina, which aims to provide "all the year round entertainment". It has two spaces: the Royal Hall which seats 1573 and the graden Room (320).

Finally the Erin Arts Centre in Port Erin features mainly music in its 180-seater performance space.
