Theatre in NorthamptonshireNorthampton itself has two major venues, both under the control of the same trust. The Derngate is a large (1200 - 1550 seats, depending upon the configuration) multi-purpose entertainment centre, whilst the Royal Theatre is a producing house. Seating 583 people, the Royal gives over 43 weeks of the year to productions by its resident rep company, three weeks to professional work studio work, and a week is devoted to use by schools and amateur companies. It also has a Theatre in Education Company. Also in Northampton is the Roadmender, an arts centre with an auditorium seating 150. Corby's Festival Hall Complex consists of two venues, the Festival Hall itself, with a capacity of 964, and the Civic Theatre (490). Its programme is very mixed. Finally, Wellingborough has its Castle Arts Centre, with a surprisingly large main house, seating 505, and a small studio with a capacity of 84. Introduction Articles Indices: |
