The BTG: an Interim ReportDateline: 31st March, 2002The British Theatre Guide began online testing on 5th November, 2001, with the aid of a few beta-testers, and then went public on 17th November. Since then it's continued to grow, racking up a total of over 105,000 page views up to and including last Sunday, 24th March. There have been dips in the growth, of course - in one week in February there was a drop of nearly 2,800 in weekly page views - but the overall trend has been always upwards. The site's first full week online attracted 1,899: last week it was 8,796. Last week the Newsletter subscriber base topped 150 for the first time. At the current rate of growth, page views should top 10,000 a week by the end of April. This week we're bringing into play a new stats package which will tell us the number of unique visitors each week and reports from Amazon UKshow a steady stream of visitors to them from the BTG, some of them making purchases. At present we have over 1100 documents on the site: articles and news pages going back to 1997, over 300 reviews (20 of them from the Edinburgh Fringe), about 2000 links, over 150 pages devoted to actors and actresses, a directory of theatres in Britain, and many other resources. However, in order for the site to develop, need your input, your ideas, and so I would like to ask you to complete our readers' survey. It's a longish document, too long for an online form, so I need to ask you to download it, fill it in, and then email it to me, either by cuutting and pasting into an email, or by sending it as an email attachment, whichever is easiest fro you. The address to send it to is survey@britishtheatreguide.info It's a simple ASCII text file - no macros or executables, so nothing that can carry a virus, although do please check it in an anti-virus program for your own peace of mind - which can be opened in any word processor or in Windows Wordpad. All you need do is right-click on the survey link below, then click on SAVE and choose a directory on your hard drive to save it to. Click SAVE again and then all you need to do is open it in your favourite word processor, complete it, and return it. Thanks for your help! Articles Indices:
