Gill StokerGill studied drama at Rose Bruford College, Kent, and singing at the Blackheath Conservatoire in SE London. Her stage roles have been diverse, ranging from opera and operetta (solo roles including Barbarina in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Gabrielle in Offenbach's La Vie Parisienne, and Miss Tilney Long in Malcolm Williamson's English Eccentrics), to a dog in a pantomime and a performing horse in Büchner's Woyzeck. She has appeared fleetingly on BBC, ITV, LWT, C4/E4, MTV, TMF and Sky TV; film work includes feature films, music videos and a large number of short films. On screen she has played an assortment of characters, including a bag lady, a psychotic granny, a kidnapped granny, a vindictive neighbour, a nosy neighbour, a disapproving neighbour, a suicidal woman, a nun, a zombie, a cream cake thrower, an art teacher, a Victorian hospital matron, a stern head librarian, a Bollywood Bride, and sometimes a more or less normal person. She recently appeared as a hypnotherapist's receptionist in a Thinkbox TV commercial. Gill also enjoys voiceover work and poetry readings; she performs a one-woman show, Essentially Ethel, based on the life of the composer and suffragette Dame Ethel Smyth (1858-1944).
