The Combat Veteran Players

This is a company that grew from the therapeutic work being done by the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation using Shakespeare to help ex-soldiers overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Working on A Midsummer Night’s Dream together, at first often reluctantly, those involved found again the bond and camaraderie that they had experienced in the service and gained release in that through taking on characters; they could become someone else, free from their worries and constraints.

The Dream became a performance in the Old Vic Tunnels and that was followed in 2013 by Henry V, a production that they continue to perform throughout the UK.

The award was made for that production of Shakespeare’s Henry V.
