Jane Eyre, Joan and Fracked

Jane Eyre – tour starts 8 April

The National Theatre and Bristol Old Vic co-production of Jane Eyre is to tour with Nadia Clifford as Jane and Tim Delap as Rochester.

They are joined by Hannah Bristow, Matthew Churcher, Alex Heane, Melanie Marshall, Paul Mundell, David Ridley, Evelyn Miller and Lynda Rook. The cast is completed by Ben Cutler, Jenny Johns, Dami Olukoya, Francesca Tomlinson and Phoebe Vigor.

Adapted by Sally Cookson from Charlotte Brontë’s classic, this new stage version of Jane Eyre was originally presented in two parts at Bristol Old Vic, and then re-imagined as a single performance for a sold out run at the National’s Lyttelton Theatre. Cookson, a Bristol Old Vic associate artist, directs.

2017 marks the 170th anniversary of the first publication of Jane Eyre.

The Jane Eyre tour visits The Lowry Salford, Lyceum Theatre Sheffield, Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Mayflower Theatre Southampton, Festival Theatre Edinburgh, York Grand Opera House, New Victoria Theatre Woking, Theatre Royal Glasgow, Richmond Theatre, Marlowe Theatre Canterbury, Wales Millennium Centre Cardiff, Theatre Royal Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Milton Keynes Theatre, Norwich Theatre Royal, Brighton Theatre Royal, Grand Theatre Leeds, Belfast Theatre Royal, His Majesty’s Theatre Aberdeen and Birmingham Repertory Theatre with further venues to be announced.

Joan – tour starts 11 April

Joan tells the story of Joan of Arc.

Written, composed and directed by Lucy J Skilbeck, this solo show with songs is performed by drag king champion Lucy Jane Parkinson, known to cabaret audiences as LoUis CYfer, the first king to ever win the national drag competition, Drag Idol UK.

Joan enjoyed significant success at last year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe winning a Scotsman Fringe First Award, The Stage Award and a Spirit of the Fringe Award.

Joan is presented by Milk Presents, resident company at Derby Theatre and the Bush Theatre in London. It is a co-commission from Derby Theatre's RETOLD programme which supports the work of female contemporary theatre writers

The tour visits Oval House where it has its London opening, Lawrence Batley Theatre Huddersfield, The Civic Barnsley, Square Chapel Halifax, Birmingham Rep and Touchstones Rochdale. Autumn venues to be announced.

Fracked! Or: Please Don't Use The F-Word – tour starts 12 April

The Chichester Festival Theatre production of Fracked! Or: Please Don't Use The F-Word is to tour following its sold-out run there.

In this comedy, Anne Reid plays Elizabeth and James Bolam her husband. Also in the cast are Waleed Akhtar, Andrea Hart, Sophie Khan Levy, Freddie Meredith, Steven Roberts and Tristram Wymark.

Retired academic Elizabeth finds herself manning the barricades when PR men join forces with a corrupt councillor to get planning permission for a fracking site.

Fracked! is written by Alistair Beaton and directed by Richard Wilson. The tour visits Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford, Malvern Theatres, Theatre Royal Brighton, Richmond Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath and Cambridge Arts Theatre.
