The index of links to organisations for amateur theatre companies

Amateur Dramatics and Operatics Dot Com
Described as a worldwide directory of amateur theatre, it only covers the UK at the moment. You need to register to use it. There's a What's On, a classified ads section, details of professional service, letters, news, a directory of amateur companies, and a fun. This looks like it could become a very useful and worthwhile site.

Amateur Dramatics Photography and Information Website
Offers various services, such as digital photography and video, to amateur groups in the Berkshire area. It's an odd mixture of personal home page (the author's favourite poems, for example) and theatre services site. There are lots of good quality photos from various amateur groups in the area.

Amdram
Amdram has moved to a new URL and is spreading its wings somewhat, intending to be the place for amateur theatre on the Net. There is a considerable amount of information here, and quite a number of societies have pages hosted on this site. An excellent resource for amateur theatre.

Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS)
An organisation serving and representing amateur music theatre groups in Ireland, NI and Eire. Details of what they do and their member societies. Some sections are still under development, and have been since the beginning of 2000.

Cheshire Theatre Guild
Organises courses & seminars on all aspects of theatre, plus festivals. Each affiliated society has its own page.

Cumbria Drama Festival
A preliminary round of the All-England Theatre Festival for one act plays. Details of the 1999 and 2000 festivals.

"Curtain Call"
Full details of the magazine for amateur theatre in East Anglia.

The Little Theatre Guild of Great Britain
The LTG is an association of amateur companies which own their own theatres. One page gives details of what the LTG does and why, if you fit their criteria, you should join. There's also a list of member companies, and another list of the committee members.

NODA (Official site)
Lists the benefits of being part of the association, gives details of how to join & of its structure, of its summer school & of insurance deals it has negotiated for member societies. It also lists members' productions

NODA North West
A somewhat misleadingly named site: it is about the NW region of NODA but it contains so much more than that. It is, in fact, a very valuable site indeed, containing details on the Region, its magazine, interviews with luminaries like John Kander, bios of composers, lyricists and choreographers, lists of shows available for performance (with summaries and where to get the rights), a very useful piece on copyright, details of cast recordings, and more. It is constantly growing. I have only one criticism: the choice of background colours is often excruciating!

NODA Scotland
A pretty complete site giving details of the Scottish Branch of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association: a fairly in-depth look at the regions, awards, performances by member societies, events, magazine, contacts, feedback and an archive.

Nottingham and Notts Amateur Dramatic Association
An umbrella association for amateur companies in the Nottinghamshire area. It exists "to promote all aspects of theatre arts, to foster progressive standards and to provide a basis for mutual assistance."

The Scottish Community Drama Association
The SCDA offers a wide range of services, all outlined on this site. There's news, details of festivals, a message from the chair, details of the organisation, their advisory service, playwriting competitions and workshops, a library of plays, a what's-on section, their Youth Network, and a Net Directory.

The Woking One-Act Festival
A page giving basic details of this Festival for amateur companies.
