The index of links to amateur theatre companies (S)

St Andrews Players
(Luton) An operatic society. The site has details of past and future productions, membership, the committee, news and the youth section.

St Annes on Sea Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society
A "micro-site" for their next production, a history (the group started in 1900), past productions (currently under construction) just gives shows back to 1997. Meet the Members is also "coming soon". Something has gone very wrong with the coding of the first page so that part of the navigation has migrated to the right and got lost behind the information frame.

St Giles Pantomime Society
(Pontefract) Details about the society, photos of its latest panto, its venue, how to book tickets, news, rules, awards. membership.

St John's AODS
(Colne, Lancs.) Details of their next show and of past productions. There's also a list of members and the committee.

St John's Players
(Fulbourn, Cambridge) Details of current productions and auditions, how to join, the Members' Theatre Club, some photographs and a history of this society which was formed in 1947.

St Luke's Amateur Dramatic Society
Founded in 1962 in Salford, doing three productions a year: a panto, a straight play and a musical. There's a list of their past productions, details of their current show, a list of society officers and an address.

St Mary's Parish Players
(Mulden, Beds.) History, constitution, productions and so on. At the time of visiting about a year out of date!

St Nicolas Theatre Group
(King's Norton, near Birmingham) Now the Saracens Theatre Company.

St Osmund's Amateur Productions
(Bolton, Lancs.) The usual information, but it was very out of date when first visited (December 2000): the next production was advertised as being in 1999.

St Peter's Gilbert and Sullivan Society
(Ravenshead, near Nottingham). Forthcoming productions (now out of date), how to contact them, history (list of past productions), Mary Williamson Award ( presented in memory of the society's founder) and reminiscences of the founder about the early years.

Sale Operatic Society
One page which, at the time visited, was slightly out of date. All the usual info.

Sanderstead Dramatic Club
(South Croydon) A brief history, news, the current production, the box office, how to contact them and a members-only section. There is also a link to their old site which is rather more detailed.

Saracens Theatre Company
Based in King's Norton, Birmingham. Basic information about the society, including past and future productions.

Saturday Knickers
This oddly named amateur group is based in Waltham Forest. Set up to "provide drama for those who want a little more than is usually available within your average local drama circuit." All the usual information - but no explanation of the name!

Sawston Players
(Cambridgeshire) All the usual details, plus a password-protected members' newsletter.

Scunthorpe Amateur Operatic Society
Details of their next show and of previous shows, right back to 1909; plus news, how to contact them, and their location.

Schoolhouse Players
(Preston) One brief paragraph about its history.

Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club
An Amdram page: very basic single page site with essential details only. More of a directory listing than a Web site, really.

Secga Theatre Company
An amateur company in Sedgley. This is a new and, at the moment, fairly basic site, giving a few details about the company and its theatre, a list of past and present productions, details of membership and booking tickets, and costume hire.

Second Thoughts
Based in Stratford-on-Avon. A well-designed site and an interesting group. Well worth a visit.

Shakespeare Players
An amateur company based at the Friedrich-Ebert-Oberschule in Berlin and performing Shakespeare only. There are details of how the group started, its members and its productions, as well as a lot of photographs.

Sharnbrook Mill Theatre, Beds.
One page with a few basic details and this seaon's plays

Shawe Hall Drama Group
There are lots of flashing things on the opening page, which is a splash page anyway. I think they are from the Trafford area, but it isn't made clear. They specialise in panto and there are some details of the group, their previous productions (mainly photos), how to join and so on. They also give a sample extract of one of their scripts.

Sheffield Teachers' Operatic Society
But you don't have to be a teacher to join! Membership is open to anyone over 16. There are details of the society itself (over 100 years old) and its productions, as well as news and a newsletter.

Skipton Little Theatre
An amateur company in Yorkshire. The site contains details of its plays, a phone number and email form booking tickets, auditions, how to join, how to contact them, sponsors, other users of the theatre, hiring it, an archive of photos and programmes and the group's history.

Slough Musical Theatre Company
Three pages are still under construction (October '99): Social Events, Box Office, News. The Who's Who page is a list of committee members and under Reviews you'll find their past productions (back to 1953) and reviews of seven shows.

SMYCMS
(Lothian) An Edinburgh musical company which had its origins in a youth club in 1963. They do one show a year at the Church Hill Theatre. The usual info is available.

The SOC Singers
(Yeading, Hayes, West London. Formerly the Southall Operatic Company.) A very comprehensive site but oddly every internal link opens a new browser window. There's news, the group's history, productions, the committee, sponsorship programmes, how to join, details of the rehearsal venue, and a link known only as ? which covers everything else!

Solihull Theatre Company
A musical theatre company. There are details about the group, including a listing of their past shows, and how to join. The other "pages" - nothing really to do with the group - are other sites.

Southey Musical Theatre Company
Formerly the Southey Operatic Society, based in Sheffield and founded in 1935. There's a history of the society, a list of its productions, a list of contacts and a booking form for tickets (to be printed out and posted).

South London Theatre
A very active society with two venues: the Bell (main house) and the Prompt Corner (studio). They also have a number of groups for children and young people, and a writers' circle. A lot of material here.

South London Scene
Online version of the newsletter of the South London Theatre. Current and previous issues are online.

South Manchester Amateur Operatic Society
About the society, how to contact them, their productions and information for members.

Southsea Shakespeare Actors
Hampshire. Formed in 1947, this was the first non-professional company in the world to do the entire Shakespeare canon - and they've done it twice! They don't only do Shakespeare - Peter Shaeffer is in their current season. A beautifully designed site which plans to have QuickTime movies and .wav files in the near future.

South Shields AOS
A full range of information about the society (even including a list of officers since 1917!), its shows and people, plus news and online copies of their magazine.

Spring Park Dramatic Society
An amateur company in south London. Two pages and a Guestbook, with general info (including their next show) & past productions (back to 1934).

Stage One Theatre Company
A musical theatre group based in Essex. The usual details: about the company, productions past and present, how to join, message board, supporting them, and a password-protected members' area.

Stage Right Theatre Company
A kind of professionally-led amateur company in Liverpool, which exists mainly "to enhance best theatrical practice and the emergence of original community-based voices." It focuses on "new theatre-writing by young people who may have had little experience of theatre."

Stannington Players
(Sheffield). The site has the usual sections - details of the group, it productions, history, ticket sales (not online) and how to contact them - but there is also a section which gives a very basic introduction to the roles of all involved in a production.

Starburst Theatre Company
A society in Fleet which aims to raise money for charity as well as putting on productions. Details about the group, its productions, the charities it supports and a members' area which include committee minutes, a discussion board and other items of interest to members.

Star Productions
This is the Society of Theatrical Amateurs in Rotherham, a music theatre group whose average age is 25. Full details of their productions and social events, as well as officers, a report on their AGM, and a FAQ. Unfortunately you have to keep going back to the first page to move through the site: there's no internal navigation.

Stevenage Lytton Players
An unusual society in that it has two sections, one for music theatre & one for straight drama. This is a very comprehensive site, with coverage of all aspects of their work: musicals, music hall, plays & youth theatre. There are newsletters, fundraising details, membership, and much more.

Stock Exchange Dramatic and Operatic Society
For people working at the Stock Exchange or in the City. There's the latest news (from November '98), details about the society, details of their last production (and previous ones), and a history of the society.

Studio 32
(East Kilbride, Scotland) Details of three of their productions, a CD sampler of their shows, a chat room. However there were a number of 404 errors when I visited.

Studio Theatre Group
(Aberdeen) Details of the history of the group and of their shows, past, present and future. They have done some interesting things: how many amateur groups would tackle Endgame?

Sudbury Dramatic Society
(Suffolk) History, the current season, past productions, online newsletter, photo gallery, how to contact the society. Use of the [BACK] button essential.
