The index of links to amateur theatre companies (W)

Waltham Abbey Musical Theatre Company
All the usual ingredients, plus some info on the various off-stage jobs: crew, stage management, front-of-house.

Waterbeach Community Players
(Cambridgeshire) Details about the group and its productions, a massive gallery of photos, how to book tickets and its productions back to 1978.

Waterloo and Crosby Theatre Club
There seems to be a lot here, but there is actually very little info and it is spread across numerous places, so a lot of clicking is needed. Copious use of the [BACK] button is necessary. Many graphics are missing and the design doesn't inspire you to read on.

Waveney Light Opera Group
Beccles, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Two pages, covering news, social events, previous productions, history, aims and objectives and membership.

WAWWA Musical Theatre Company
The We Are What We Are Musical Theatre Company, an amateur company based in Cwmbran, Wales. Details of productions, lots of photographs, the full constitution and rule and regulations, a forum and details of the group's patrons.

Wellingborough Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society
(Northamptonshire) Just one page with very basic information.

Wellingborough Cooperative Amateur Dramatic Society
(Northants) This society began in 1950 and does two plays a year on average. A typical AmDram site, with details of productions and casts, plus the odd pic. One nice touch is a page devoted to their local pub! And it's in the Good Pub Guide!

The Wesley Players
(Upminster, Essex) The company does a panto and two other plays a year, plus charity events. Tow pages at the moment, so there's not a lot there as yet: there is, we are promised, more to come. (July 2000)

West Bridgford Dramatic Society (WBDS)
(Nottingham) Remarkably the only mention of this group's productions is an announcement of their next show on the home page. There is a list of events covering a period of some months, as well as details on how to find their Studio Theatre, the price of tickets and how to contact and join them.

Westbury Park Players
Bristol. One page, very few details, except they do three shows a year and have recently received a Lottery grant for stage equipment.

Westoning Players (Beds.)
One page with very brief details

Weston-on-Trent Panto
(Derbyshire) Details of three shows: Robin of Weston (1998), A Lad in Wes Tong (1999), and Peter Pantomime (2000).

Weston-super-Mare Operatic Society
Details about the society, its productions past and future, its centenary year in 2008, a galery of photos, a notice board, its junior section, a fund-raising section, how to contact and a page restricted to members.

The Westovians
(South Shields, Tyne and Wear) Not a great deal here: a map, a brief hisory, details of the next production (and how to book), and a list of officers.

Wetherby Musical Theatre Group
(Yorkshire) This site was relaunched in November 1997. It contains a few details about the society, details of forthcoming productions and how to hire costumes. There's not much on any of the pages. Their youth section is called the Really Youthful Theatre Group. Nice one! Wish I'd thought of that!

The Wharf Theatre, Devizes
Design is nice, making good use of frames and tables, and all the necessary information is there.

Whitehaven and District AOS
(Cumbria) The usual news about the society and its productions, together with photographs stretching back well into the early part of the last century.

White Horse Opera
(Devizes, Wilts.) An amateur grand opera company. Past productions include "La Boheme" and "Aida". Details of past and future productions, its Friends and committee, plus pictures, opera trivia and a guide to the chalk white horses of Wiltshire

Whitley Bay Operatic Society
About the society, a list of committee members, past and future productions, photograhs.

Whitstable Playhouse (The Lindley Players)
There's an introductory page and a list of what's on. The theare is not just used by the Players.

Whitwell Players
(Herts) Productions past and forthcoming; a list of members (on-site personal pages coming soon). Their lighting manual (Microsoft Word) can be downloaded. A history is in preparation.

Wight Strollers
An amateur group on the Isle of Wight producing pantos and summer shows. There's a rather slow-loading splash page and music on first page whch you can't turn it off!

The Wilmslow Green Room
This has to be the best designed amateur site I've ever seen - in particular, a most impressive graphical front page. All the usual info is there, including a list of shows going back to the beginning of the society in 1924.

Wilmslow Guild Players
A lot of information here. Includes a photo-gallery and a list of fifty members - the parts they've played, in what show, and when!

Wilstead Players (Beds.)
One page of general introduction to the society

Wilton Productions
A musical theatre company based in Scunthorpe. There are details of the two founders of the group and of their location, plus a list of past shows, a news page and a preview of their next show.

Wimborne Musical Theatre Society
(Dorset) There's a brief history of the society, a list of past productions, details of future productions, news (archived back to 2001) and reviews of recent shows.

Winchester Amateur Operatic Society
Details of their shows (including the next one), a very little on the junior section, and copies of Newsletters (the last for October '98). The History page is just a list of past productions. They had Sir Malcolm Sargent as their MD in the late 20s and early 30s!

Wokingham Theatre
(An amateur company in Berkshire) There are details about the theatre and the company's productions, hire of the theatre, wardrobe hire, membership and booking.

Wollaton Drama Group
An amateur company in the Nottingham area. Details of tehearsals and auditions, how to contact them, past shows and sponsorship of the society.

Woodland Players (Bristol)
Abit about the society, a list of productions, biographies of some members, a forum.

Woodley Light Opera Society
An amateur operatic society in Reading. There are the usual contents: the society itself, membership, shows, photographs, and so on, together with advice on auditioning and a rehearsal schedule for the current show. One interesting idea that other societies might consider taking up: they sell tickets online through PayPal using credit cards. It is a secure server - I checked!

Woodley Theatre
Details of their next production, the next season, and other events.

Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society
A little about the society, details of their last, next and forthcoming shows, and a page devoted to their youth section.

The Wranglers ADC
An operatic society based in Plymouth. Details of the company, past productions, the next production, how to join, sponsorship, auditions, their children's group, social events and the Athenaeum Theatre where they play.

Wycombe Society for the Performing Arts
A large four-framed site for this Buckinghamshire operatic society. A large number of pages on both the society and High Wycombe - including the local weather!
