Links to sites for theatres in England - Page 1..

Acorn Theatre, Penzance
You can examine the What's On section on a month-by-month basis or by category (theatre, dance, etc.). There are also pages on how to contact the theatre, other info (including tech. specs.) and news. The Archive section was not online in March, 2000.

Alexandra, Birmingham
Some very basic details.

Alma Tavern Theatre
A pub theatre in Bristol. Address, productions and a description.

The Almeida, Islington
Excellent design. This site is constantly changing to keep up with what is happening in the theatre. Really worthwhile.

The Almeida
An article in the London Evening Standard about the theatre's redevelopment and its forthcoming programme.

The Almeida and Kent and McDiarmid
Stephen Fay (The Independent) looks at the Almeida and Jonathan Kent and Ian McDiarmid who run it together.

Alnwick Playhouse
A history of the theatre, its programme and a list of the various groups and societies which use it.

Arena Theatre, Wolverhampton
A small-scale touring venue, linked to the University of Wolverhampton - it also presents student shows. Two theatres (150 and 100 seats) and a seminar room (50 seats). What's on, box office, how to find, access, mailing list, venue hire, cafe bar, job vacancies.

Ashgill Forest Theatre
Near Wigton in Cumbria, this is a small outdoor theatre (or amphitheatre), built during the spring of 2004. It's now looking for users! The three page site gives an overview of the theatre, and details of how it was built and its launch.

Assembly Rooms Theatre & Guildhall Theatre, Derby
The usual very basic info, plus three months' programming. The Assembly Rooms is mainly a music venue: the Guildhall features much more drama.

The Barbican
(Added in December, 2001) How on earth I didn't list the Barbican long ago, I really don't know. Not that it's a terribly brilliant site. It's well designed, yes, but the information about individual productions and events is fairly basic. This link takes you to the theatre section, but by clicking here you can go to the site's front page.

Belgrade, Coventry
A full range of info about the theatre, its own productions and those it brings in, including their interesting Singles Night idea.

Bird's Nest Theatre - New Writing
Brief notes about its new writing policy.
