Links to sites for theatres in England - Page 2..

Bloomsbury Theatre
Owned and funded by University College London, this is primarily a student theatre. Full information: everything from the full programme to the tech. specs. via a list of all the staff.

The Blue Elephant Theatre
A new(-sh) (1999) theatre in Camberwell. What's on? How to book (online through Ticketweb), where it is, education (workshops in primary schools, youth theatre, work placements), information for companies (ech specs and plans), the script dept. (interested in new wring), a feedback form, and international news from moreover.com.

The Bonington Theatre
(Arnold, Nottingham) Presents amateur and professional work in dance, drama and music. There's a history of the theatre and a short biography of the painter it is named after, plus what's on, booking, seating plans, tech specs - and the story of the theatre's ghost

The Brewery Arts Centre
Based in Kendall on the fringes of the Lake District, the Brewery is a well-established and respected arts centre. Its theatre work is limited and this link takes you to a search form for the current theatre events.

Brighton Theatres
A what's on guide.

Bristol Old Vic
This site has grown enormously and now fully reflects the standing of the theatre. There's a very good argument for not putting a site online until it is finished - the Old Vic did themselves no good with the first version of this site.

The Bush Theatre
A very, very basic site: one page, which gives the address, a little bit of general info, and a form for visitors' comments. Not really worth the effort of clicking on your mouse!

Bush Theatre - New Writing
The Alternative Theatre Company's own notes on submitting new plays.

Buxton Opera House
A pretty standard site: a page about the place, plus details of how to book and of its own discount card.

The Castle, Wellingborough
Theatre, music and film, conferences, exhibitions. The site includes a Quicktime VR "guided tour".

Chapel Arts Centre
(Newhaven, East Sussex) A community owned exhibition and performance venue. The site contains details of events, a diary, an outline of the centre's facilities, how to contact them and their location.

Charles Cryer Studio Theatre
Based in Carshalton, Surrey, this is the only theatre I know of to have a Thai restaurant! The site is less exciting. Offers a theatre school which gives part-time training in theatre, including acting, at a reasonable price.

Chelmsford Civic Theatres
The Civic Theatre, the Cramphorn Theatre and Arts Development in Chelmsford: all the usual ingredients: programme, where the theatres are, booking tickets and so on. Also, of course, arts development activities are covered.

Chichester Festival Theatre
This site has been redesigned and vastly improved. There's a lot here of interest: programme, booking, education, general info.

Chicken Shed Theatre
This site has grown tremendously, with news, details about the company and ther theatre. details of productions, press reports, sponsors and supporters.

Churchill Theatre, Bromley
Their present season and education work; sponsorship and its benefits; how to find the theatre. The Box Office section covers ordering tickets (online, in person, by phone or fax, by post), accessibility and a seating plan .

City Varieties, Leeds
One page, featuring the usual info: a history, details of what's on, booking, etc.

Civic Theatre, Leeds
A very standard site, with all the usual information.

Corn Exchange, Cambridge
Mainly a venue for one-night stands, but it does present some theatre. Events are listed by the month and the venue's tech specs are online.

Coventry College Theatre
Hosts a variety of shows, amateur and professional, music and theatre. there's a What's On page (but presented as a .gif which is slow to download), how to hire it, and a seating plan in .pdf format.

Crescent, Birmingham
One page of general information.

The Customs House, South Shields
A theatre in a listed building on the banks of the Tyne. There are tech specs and seating plans, together with details of the programme, the programme of films and what is happening in the two art galleries.

The Customs House (stare.net)
A one page site giving basic info about the theatre.

Dancehouse Theatre, Manchester
A venue for music, comedy and dance rather than theatre, although it is presenting a new musical. What's On, Box Office, an email list, details of the Cafe Bar and about access, a map and a brief history.

Darlington Civic Theatre and Darlington Arts Centre
Co. Durham. About the two venues, what's on, a mailing list, booking, and its location.

Davenham Players Theatre
Northwich, Cheshire. One page with very brief details.

Delfont Mackintosh
The company which runs Cameron Mackintosh's theatres: cbout the company, the theatres themselves, news and gossip, how to contact, recruitment, what's on and online ticket booking.

Derngate Theatre, Northampton
Go with image-loading enabled, or you'll get nowhere! A pretty standard site, except that they've got one of those little Java programs which take over your browser status line. Now sharing a site with the Royal Theatre, Northampton.

Donmar Warehouse
There's a really nice piece of Flash animation on the front page, something I don't normally like because of bandwidth wasting, but this is excellent of its type. The site covers the shows, how to buy tickets, the theatre's history, a mailing ist and details of Friends and Membership. Unusually for a major London theatre, the Donmar is non-profit and a full house every night only covers 60% of its costs.

The Drum, Birmingham
An arts venue dedicated to promoting African, Asian and Carribean arts and cultural achievements, covering the visual and performing arts. This link takes you to the theatre section.

Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham
Reasonably comprehensive: what's on, booking and seating, education and community work (including backstage tours), eating and drinking, map and contacts, the Everykid Club, and how to book the place for conferences.

Evesham Arts Centre
Evesham Arts Centre serves the Vale of Evesham. The site gives details of what's on, how to book tickets and to get there, as well as details of hiring the venue.
