Links to Irish (in both the north and the south) Theatre sites - Page 1.

The Abbey Theatre, Dublin
The National Theatre of Ireland, which has had a major impact on theatre in the UK generally. At first sight there seems to be little there - What's On, News, About - but the About section leads on to much, much more. There are details of all aspects of the theatre and its work, all presented in a nice open, readable design.

AIMS - Association of Irish Musical Societies
An organisation serving and representing amateur music theatre groups in Ireland, NI and Eire. Details of what they do and their member societies. Some sections are still under development, and have been since the beginning of 2000.

Andrews Lane Theatre, Dublin
Details of the main hosue and studio, the productions and technical information. There's a map and you can also book tickets onlne. Nicely designed - such a pity, then, that it was pretty much out of date when I visited (September '99).

An Taibhdhearc
The national theatre of the Irish language, based in Galway. There's a brief introduction and the priogramme for the first six months of 1998. Mainly in Irish, with some English. There's a link to An Taibhdhearc's full history (off-site) which is entirely in Irish.

The Ark
The Ark is a cultural centre for children in Dublin, offering a large range of projects (some theatrical) for children and from which adults are excluded. There are plays, concerts, exhibitions, readings, workshops and performances.

Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaíon
Not a terribly informative site, as there is very little on most of the pages. Details of closing dates for awards and schemes, the function of the council, its organisation, funding, publications and contact addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.

Arts Council of Northern Ireland
Quite a lot of detail here about all the ACNI's functions: there's news, all about the organisation (including staffing, structure, mission statement, membership), funding details, an outline of the arts in NI, arts and disability, complaints and how they are dealt with, a five-year plan ("To the Millennium"), and their position statement on language.

Auditoria
A review of planning, programming and provision of performing arts venues in Ireland by the Arts Council of Ireland. A searchable benchmark relational database containing information about the physical infrastructure for the performing arts throughout the island.

Baboró
An arts festival for 3-16 year olds, held in Galway in October, 1997.

Ballywillan Drama Group
(Portrush, NI) News, history, diary, a gallery of pictures, video and sound, and "Backstage", their newsletter.

Bardic Theatre
(Amateur company) Stages classic plays, major musicals, comedies, experimental work and new writing at its own venue in Donaghmore and on tour throughout Northern Ireland. The site features details about the company, its productions and programme, and a mailing list. Simple, restrained but effective design.

The Samuel Beckett On-line Resources and Links Page
This is a links site, but such a thorough one that it would be wrong not to bring it to your attention. A large collection of links to all things Beckettian (Is there such a word?). Also on this site - naughty! - is the full text of Waiting for Godot
