Tickets and information about London West End theatre including musicals, plays and comedy as well as pop concerts. There's also a calendar and it also links to a sister site for London hotel booking.

4 Print and Design Ltd.
A Brighton-based print company, specialising in theatre flyers and posters. The site includes their price list for both design and print.

Actors in Management
Not directly theatre but interesting nonetheless: this is a company, the partners in which are ex-professional actors, which uses theatre techniques in management training. An interesting sideline on the theatre business.

A York-based culture magazine that features contemporary writers, artists, musicians and filmmakers.

Amber Lane Press
A small independent publisher of books on drama. Playwrights published include 'Biyi Bandele, Steven Berkoff, Ronald Harwood, Julian Mitchell, Martin Sherman and Hugh Whitemore. There's a complete list of all their books, with each having its own page, and online ordering. The online ordering is slightly complex, but secure.

The Arts Bookshop
There aren't a lot of books featured, but you do have the option of requesting them to order you one. However the server isn't secure, so, although you can order online, you have to phone or fax them your credit card number!

Arts Hub
One of the myriad sites offering performing arts audition and job info which are springing up asll over the Web. This one, having a better pedigree than most, seems to have more to offer but it isn't cheap at £50 (plus VAT) per annum. Most of the site is password-protected so it's impossible to check out, but it did claim to have 190 jobs online the day I visited: these, of course, were spread across the whole performing arts world.

Ask About Writing
A site for writers in all genres, based in Ireland. Thetre is a tremendous amount here for writers, from writing-related news to competitions to awards to a showcase and a weekly Newsletter.

BBC Shop
Carries a range of videos, CDs, cassettes and books of BBC output, including classic drama, contemporary drama, comedy and popular series.

Beetleheart Publishing
Published scripts aimed mainly at schools and amateurs. They also run a week-long course for children in South Warwickshire every year and have a theatre company (although this part of the site is under construction).

Beyond Theatre
A theatrical publishing company, an entertainment agency and a design studio. Thye also run an amateur music theatre group (Stage One q.v.) and a murder mystery dinner theatre.

Big House Theatre Company
Big House aims to promote disabled access in theatre, not in audience terms but for the disabled actor or crew. It is not a site for the disabled but is rather aimed at making the rest of us aware of what those with a disability can contribute to theatre. There is a huge amount of information here, including diability etiquette, a FAQ on employing an actor with a disability, how to get text converted to Braille, Equity policy, and training. An essential site for all who work in theatre.

BIG Marketplace
An online resource providing business opportunitiues for creative and non-creative industries in the Birmingham area and beyond.

Black Cat Puppet Theatre
Based on the edge of the Yorkshire dales. There is one long page, giving details of work in schools, productions, making puppets, devising puppet shows, and a health awareness show on AIDS for primary schools. A rather fussy background makes reading a bit difficult.

Blind Summit
A significantly different puppet company: "the most powerful place on the stage is the space between people: this is the space the puppets occupy," they say. Details of their plays, workshops for schools and businesses, tour dates and, of course, about the company itself.

Glastonbury Internet Radio/Augusto Boal
A 30 minute programme (RealAudio: plug-in needed) about Boal, theatre, politics and social change. Made during a legislative theatre session in London's County Hall in November, 1998. Interesting!

British Hotels Guide.com
A fully searchable guide to finding and booking all kinds of accommodation (including conference facilities) throughout the UK, together with articles on a number of tourist destinations.

Bristol Shakespeare Festival
Details of the inaugural festival in 2005. Beware: it takes a long time to load!

Brit Stars
A talent agency with the motto "Anyone can be a star!" They write, "TV & Film extras, Acting, Dancing, Singing, Writing. Fame is within the grasp of anybody. Bristars.tv is a ground floor service for people with no experience but first you need to let people know you exist. Your details posted at Brit Stars will be accessible by millions and our databases are constantly used by managers, agents, producers and casting directors nationwide as their main source for scouting. Your details here will be seen by those that matter there! "

Byre Books
Based in Wigtown, Scotland. This link takes you to their second-hand theatre and film book section.

C20th Entertainment Memorabilia

Canadian Theatre in the UK
With eight Canadian productions in the UK in the aututmn of 2003, the Windchill Factor, a UK-Canada cultural organisation, with assistance from the Canadian High Commission, has set up this website to highlight Canadian theatre in the UK. It contains details of all the shows and an online ticket booking section is under construction.

Jason Carr
A composer of music for theatre, Jason Carr is currently associate composer at the Chichester Festival Theatre, where he wrote music and lyrics for a new version of The Water Babies. Biography, details of his plays, reviews, recordings and how to contact him.

Casting Call Pro
A free service to actors, agents and casting professionals. It offers the ability to uplaod CV, showreels and headshots, email alerts when appropriate jobs come up and a forum.

A web design and hosting company for the entertainment industry. Full details of their services and costs

Comedy Plays
A site for writers of comedy plays (one act and full length), pantos and sketches to bring their plays to the notice of amateur companies. There are synopses of plays with sample scenes, together with a list of terms and consitions (and fees).

The Creative Freedom Awards
These awards are designed to celebrate and promote those who are pushing back the creative boundaries in many creative categories, including theatre. They are nominated by the public. Here you can read all about them and make your own nominations.
