A rather odd (in the sense of funny) site, devoted to promoting Frank
Butcher (the Eastenders character played by Mike Reid) as the first
elected Lord Mayor of London! A good laugh! (But I think Arthur Daly
would do a better job!)
The Frank Matcham
Society
Matcham (1854 - 1920), of course, is widely regarded as one of the
greatest British theatre architects and the society aims to "encourage
and carry out research into his life and work." The site has
details of the society and its magazine, and carrries a brief biography
of Matcham, as well as a small gallery of photos.
Globalstage
Globalstage is an American company which sells videos of plays which
are suitable for family viewing. They have two British plays in their
catalogue: SNAP People's Theatre's Far from the Madding Crowd and
Polka Theatre's 1999 Barclays Awards nomination Playing from the Heart,
the story of Evelyn Glennie. Videos are $27 (approx. £17) plus postage.
The Green Room
A site for writers. There's a co-operative playwriting project, writers'
blogs and a forum.

The Green Room Club, founded in 1876, now has a new home. This is
an article about the Club and its history from the "Evening Standard"
Hammersmith Actors and Writers
Group
Meets in Hammersmith on alternate Monday evenings for rehearsed readings
of new plays. Readings are followed by chaired discussions aimed at
giving the writers ideas for further development of their work. The
audience typically consists of about fifty actors, writers and other
theatre professionals. The site features biographies of its members,
a schedule of readings, news, including the latest copy of their Newsletter
(full of useful and interesting stuff) and how to join.
Heart 'n' Soul Music Theatre
Heart 'n' Soul works with learning disabled artists in south east
London. It consists of ten learning-disabled actors and four professional
musicians. Details of their shows, workshops, history - and how you
can buy CDs and tapes!
Heritage Theatre
Heritage Theatre produces videos and DVDs of theatre productions.
Imaginarts
English language theatre for children and young people in Singapore.
Offers courses and workshops, and, through its company I Theatre,
productions.
John Good Holbrook

Independent Radio Drama Productions
A huge site, covering everything you need to know about radio drama in general and IRDP in particular, including the production process, hints on writing radio drama, excerpts from productions and the Internet Play of the Month.

In Yer face Theatre
A site devoted to a book by Aleks Sierz, published in March 2001,
which deals with the theatre of the 1990s, with reference to writers
such as Mark Ravenhill and Sarah Kane. A very thorough - even essential
- site.
It's Alright For Some
A company working in management, marketing, production, PR, regional
touring and the Edinburgh Festival. The site gives details of available
productions, with touring dates, reviews, photos etc..
It's the show that counts
Excellent article in the Evening Standard by Paul Barker, redressing the balance after so much time and energy has been devoted to theatre buildings.
The Jerwood Space
The Jerwood Fundation offers rehearsal space to young companies, particularly in Dance. Details of what is on offer.
The Juggling Information Service
A vast range of resources for jugglers, including clubs (the sort that have meetings, not those that you juggle!). Did you know there are over 200 in the UK, two of them in the Channel Islands?
Lime Music
An unusual one, this: a company that produces original music for film, TV and theatre. there are details and a resume, an idea of the range of services offered and demos. Interesting and different.
LK Productions
A company specialising in stage fights, offering performances, workshops
and theatre in education, all fight-related. Parts of the site were
still under construction when I visited in early December, 1999. They
are also moving into murder mystery theatre.
Local Today
A listings site. Anyone can have their event listed free of charge
and visitors can choose the search the listings for events in their
local area (within 40 miles) by category. It's fairly new and, clearly,
depends very much on people submitting events. Currently come areas
of the country are better served than others, but it's a valuable
service and deserves to succeed.

A useful site for those planning a holiday in London: details of and
online booking for hotels in London, with some more general pages
about tours, shows and dining.
London Theatre and Restaurant Club

London Theatre and Concert Breaks
Centre Stage is a company which offers a package deal of hotel and theatre or concert tickets for visitors to London. There's some (brief) theatre news, but the mainly it's about the shows and hotels available. Online booking available.

Music And Drama Community Arts Project in Milton Keynes: all the events that are taking place, groups and activities. There's a lot going on!
The Magdalena Project: Women
in Contemporary Theatre
"An international network of women in contemporary theatre... a virtual
meeting place for those involved and a source of information on current
activities." The aims of the project are set out, as is its background
(including the loss of funding from ACW). There's news, a notice board,
publications and articles.
The Raymond
Mander and Joe Mitchenson Theatre Collection
Probably the biggest theatrical archive in private hands. The site
covers the entire collection. There's little internal navigation:
much use of the [BACK] button is required.
Memo
Memo is a design company based in Chesterfield which does a lot fo
work with theatres and theatre companies. The main site needs Flash
7 but there is an HTML version. A number of examles of there work
are featured, two of which are theatre-related.

A most unusual site: a way of former male dancers making contact with
old colleagues.
Mid Herts School of Magic and the Performing Arts
Dedicated to promoting the use of conjuring and its allied arts. Provides free advice about magic in theatre and entertainment to schools and colleges, and also runs courses, workshops etc. A lot of pages, but not a huge amount of info. Very basic design.
(The World of) Mime Theatre
This site is intended to provide a resource for mime and mime artists,
but currently only includes lists of links. Information about mime
will, we are told, appear in the future.

equally (well, 98% of the time) to the UK. It is a guide to all aspects
of auditioning for musical theatre and covers actors, dancers and
singers. It is aimed at professionals, but amateurs and students could
learn at lot from it too.
