The site isn't very up to date because the Centre is going through
financial troubles at the moment. There are no courses currently but
there is news of productions and casting.
Performing Arts Network in
Cambridge (PANIC)
PANIC is a website where companies and individuals can log information
about their activities, events and news. The site includes a diary
of forthcoming events, notice boards for actors, directors and technicians,
as well as pages of information about each company. Organised by Junction
and the Cambridge Drama Centre. There's a list of companies (being
redeveloped) and an area for adding and updating info (password protected).
Pier Playwrights
Pier Playwrights is an organisation for playwrights run by playwrights.
It exists to develop and promote new writing for the theatre and other
media in the South East of England. The site outlines the benefits
to members and has a private members' area.
Political
Parties' Policies on the Arts
Part of the National Campaign for the Arts site. Arts policies from
Labour, Conservative, LibDems, Scottish Nationalists, Plaid Cymru
and the Green Party, set out by their own spokespeople.
Pride of Place
"Pride of Place is a consortium of regional touring theatre companies
that is taking a lead in the debate about the relationship between
place and art and the ways in which rural communities contribute to
contemporary Britain." Details of member companies and of UpStix:
the Pride of Place Festival. Also a report on the 2003 Rural Touring
Theatre Conference.
Save London's
Theatres Campaign
Set up in 1972, the campaign fights to ensure the survival of London
theatres which are under threat of closure or demolition. Its current
concerns include the Mermaid and the Shaw Theatres and each has its
own page.
Scottish Arts Council
A new site, replacing the old Scottish Arts site, and much, much better,
with a considerable amount of information available.
The Society for Theatre Research
An absolute "must" for those interested or involved in theatre
research. Very much an academic society, its very comprehensive site
covers a huge amount of ground. It also sponsors the annula Theatre
Book Prize.

(S.T.A.R.)
A page with basic info about the organisation, plus the full register
of members.
The Theatrical
Guild
A charity set up to give financial assistance to theatre people in
need. It's not completely finished yet: the History and Registration
pages are not yet online. The "How You Can Help" page goes
into great detail about why you should make a will, how to do so,
and why you should leave some money to the Guild.
Theatrical Management Association
The TMA is the national organisation for theatres, companies and other
professionals involved in theatre. The site gives a comprehensive
overview of the TMA, its members and services, and who is eligible
to join.
Visiting Arts
"Visiting Arts is the national agency for promoting the flow
of international arts into the UK and developing related cultural
links abroad to help build cultural awareness and positive cultural
relations." It is funded by the four arts councils, the British
Council, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the DCMS. That says
it all really!
