Links to sites for that very British of theatrical forms, Pantomime - page 2

Little Hadham Panto Group
Amateur group from Herts. A lot of info here: the most recent panto, ticket sales, the history of panto and of the group, reviews of the last production, their constitution (refreshingly brief!), a list of past productions, the village of Little Hadham, and NODA.

Limelight Scripts
Suppliers of (at the moment) original scripts for pantomimes for amateur companies. Musicals and straight plays will be available soon, they say. The site gives details of what is available, some extracts, fees, the cost of scripts and so on.

Make a Cat Laugh
New pantomimes with a difference. Titles include "Arthur, Merlin and the Time Machine" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". There are details of the writers, each show (synopses and extracts), fees, ordering scripts, terms and conitions, and a FAQ about pantomimes.

The Methodist Amateur Dramatics Company
Based at Liphook Methodist Church (but they don't say where Liphook is) and doing pantos only. A longish page with snippets of information. Very chatty and clearly aimed at members rather than casual visitors.

Pantoland
One of my features from 1997 - a brief history of pantomime.

The Old English Pantomime
From TheatreHistory.com. A 1911 article on mime in the eighteenth century, the precursor of the modern pantomime.

Panto Ingredients
A brief explantion of the essential ingredients of pantomime.

Pantomania! It's great for children (oh no it isn't!)
An article in the Independent about the "adultification" of panto.

Pantomime on the Web
Jon Keen, of the Crowthorne Amateur Theatre Society, has written pantos of all kinds. The site is still under construction (but the last update was June 1997!), so there's not a great deal there. Frankly, the only page worth going to lists his pantos, with details of who has done them. There are no links to the shows themselves, however, nor any examples online.

Pantoni Pantomimes
Pantos, children's shows and floor shows. Details of the company itself, current productions, photos and sceneray and costume hire.

The Players' Theatre
The home of Music Hall, based in London's Charing Cross. Details of the theatre and its history, its current programme, the people, a history of Old Time Music Hall, and a note on the authenticity of its performances, especially of its original script Victorian pantomimes. Unique and interesting.

Qdos Entertainment
A major national production company, specialists in pantomime but also covering many kinds of touring show.

Scripts from Weston on Trent
From Weston on Trent, Derbyshire. Scripts for "Robin" (Hood), "Aladdin", "Peter Pan", "Alice in Wonderland", "Pinocchio", "Cinderella" and a western. An intro to each, plus sample scene, and an email address to obtain the full script.

Redstone Music Publishing
A small Coventry-based music publishing company, run by Tim J Spencer and Steve Vent, offering two musicals, a panto special effects CD, songs and orchestral works.

Shawe Hall Drama Group
There are lots of flashing things on the opening page, which is a splash page anyway. I think they are from the Trafford area, but it isn't made clear. An amateur group, they specialise in panto and there are some details of the group, their previous productions (mainly photos), how to join and so on. They also give a sample extract of one of their scripts.

TLC Creative
A site for a trio of writers of pantos and short plays. The site tells a little bit about them, gives details of their work (and associated merchandise) and sample of the scripts are available in PDF format.

Traditional Pantomimes
Traditional Pantomimes are Colin Wakefield (writer) and Kate Edgar (composer) who write for both amateur and professional companies. There are full details of all their pantos and also of their children's musicals, as well as details of their individual work.

The Ugly Sisters: Nigel Ellacott and Peter Robbins
Nigel and Peter specialise in playing the Ugly Sisters for E&B productions. The site concentrates on their careers but also takes a general look at panto.

The UK Pantomime Alliance
"The aims of UKPA are to encourage and promote amateur pantomime in the UK (and beyond if need be). We will be a 'virtual' organisation linking groups through the World Wide Web. We intend to act as a focus for groups to interchange ideas and information and to promote pantomime to a wider audience." Set up in 2002: there's very little there at the moment.

UK Productions
Touring middle of the road and musical shows, plus pantomimes. Also hire out sets and costumes.

Write a Brilliant Pantomime
Writer Nick Mellersh offers advice on how to write a panto.
