Links to sites for plays by British playwrights or produced by UK-based companies

Abigail's Party
Not really about the play: just an ad for the production at the New Ambassadors (which transferred from Hampstead). Details of prices plus online booking.

And Then There Were None
The official site for the new stage version of Agatha's Christie's Ten Little Indians. Details of the play itself and the plot, of Agatha Christie, of tickets and a competition. The page on the cast and creative team was missing when we visited.

Antigone (Sophocles)
A Guardian article about the contemporary resonance of classic texts, with particular reference to the Sophocle's Antigone.

Arcadia
Devoted to the RNT's 1993 production of this Stoppard play, directed by Trevor Nunn, with Rufus Sewell, Harriet Walter, Felicity Kendall, Bill Nighy and Samuel West. There are pictures, a cast list, critical comments and quotes.

Arden of Faversham
From TheatreHistory.com: a 1934 article on the play's authorship.

Art
A critique of the play by a Roger Allam fan, which spends more time talking about waiting outside the stage door for autographs than about the play itself!

The Beaux' Stratagem
Picture, cast list and review of the 1989 RNT production.

Steven Berkoff's Plays
A brief summary of each play, together with some quotations.

Blue Murder (Peter Nichols)
1996 tour featuring Anton Rodgers, Nichola McAuliffe and Barry Foster. Photos and cast.

Broken Glass (Arthur Miller)
1995 tour with Henry Goldman and Kenn Stott. Photos and cast.

Cathedral: A Mystery Play
A modern play with a "timeless" theme by James Dimelow of Norwich. The site has sections on the play itself, the author and the music, but it has not yet had a production so there is nothing in the Cast, Venue and News sections. There is also a great deal on the background: mystery and morality plays, stigmata, angels and demons.

Comedy Plays
A site which aims to bring together writers of comedy plays (full-length and one-act), sketches and pantomimes and amateur groups looking for plays to perform. There are details of all the plays in their portfolio, terms and conditions, and charges.

Cooking with Elvis
(By Lee Hall) There are two versions of the site, one for those with and one for those without Flash. A site which looks good, but there isn't that much there, just a little bit about the play, biogs of the cast and of Lee Hall, and, of course, information about ticket booking.

The Country Wife
1997 production with Jaye Griffiths, Patrick Robinson and Sarah Crowe. About the play and photos.

The Crucible
1998 touring production. About the play, and photos.

Defending the Caveman
Bob Becker's one-man play has run successfully in New York for a long time and now it's in the UK (with Mark Little). This official site offers US tour dates, reviews of the US production, and details of Becker himself.

The Diarist
A really different site: an experiment blending theatre, literature, and the Internet together to create one seamless story. The diaries of four people, each will find the seeds of a meeting planted in their lives - a meeting which happens at the Arches Theatre in Glasgow at 7pm on November 17th, 2002 - which will change them all forever.

The Diary of Anne Frank
2000 touring production: about the play, photos, reviews, education programme.

Fall and Rise
A play by James Dimelow: "a unparalleled story as a city businessman finishes an ordinary day to take the tube train home. What follows is a extraordinary tale of love, tragedy and desperation as he takes a memorable voyage home via London's homeless community. The tale is brought up to date by using the techniques of the Grand Guignol." The play has yet to be produced.

Finetime Fontayne is Richard Matthewman
A production by TAMAR Scarborough. Details of the play for prospective bookers.
