The index of links to sites for British Playwrights (7)

Judy Upton
Her own page: details of her plays for stage and radio, a short story, and books in whcih her work appears.

John Webster
Brief introudction with some biographical details, a list of his plays and a bibliography.

Arnold Wesker
Short biography, short and long chronolgies, foreign productions (although nothing here yet), plays, fiction, non-fiction, synopses & reviews, bibliography. The author says that the site was set up for the general pubic and academics, but in fact the academic side is a bit thin.

Oscar Wilde
Rather an unusual approach: a series of pages, each of which contains a short quotation (sometimes accompanied by a picture) either by or about Wilde. Entertaining if you have a general interest in Wilde, but frustrating and even annoying if you are looking for specific information!

Women Playwrights before 1650
A brief look at a few women playwrights, including Mary Sidney Herbert, Countess of Pembroke, plus a full playlist from 1645-1670.

Mark Wheeller
A writer of plays and musicals which are available for amateur production. There are details of all the shows, about the writer, and how to buy copies.

Women Playwrights 1650-1856
A listig of around 150 female playwrights and their works.

The Writers' Guild of Great Britain
If you are a writer or a would-be writer, this is a must-visit site, in spite of the fact that it is rather uninspiringly presented, even dry.

Writernet
An organisation aimed at writers of all kinds of live and recorded performance, not for profit and funded by subscriptions, trust funds, ACE and the London Arts Board. Offers a wide range of very useful services to playwrights.

Peter Wynne-Willson
A Young People's Theatre writer and director. The site covers his current projects, his work in Theatre in Education, his CV, some pages which refer to some work he did in Korea, and how to contact him.

Ben Yeoh
Ben Yeoh is a playwright and this is his Blog. In it he shares his thoughts and experiences about all aspects of theatre: writing, acting, directing, and critics.

Yorkshire Playwrights
Yorkshire Playwrights is a group of professional dramatists, active in all dramatic mediums (sic), stage, television, radio. The group works to encourage the writing and performance of new plays in Yorkshire and to develop understanding of the dramatist's craft. That's what they say about themselves, and their site tells who they are, who runs the society, who can join, when and where they meet, as well as listing forthcoming events and offering a script reading service. There is a particularly useful section on layout, which gives lots of good advice to would-be writers, as well as offering specimens of TV, radio and stage script layouts.
