Magic Carpet Theatre
A children's theatre company, founded in 1982, and offering productions and workshops aimed at Key Stages 1 and 2. Plenty of details about their work in schools and theatres.

Magic Parrot Productions
An Internet publishing company offering musical plays for primary schools. Royalty-free for one year after purchase of photocopiable script & CD.

Manchester Youth Theatre
Open to people between 15 and 21 in the Greater Manchester area. One page, giving details of the kind of thing members can be involved with.

Middlesborough Young Shakespeare
Based in Middleborough on Teeside, this youth group has its sixth season in 1998. They rehearse a full Shakespeare production in three weeks and the tour it in the fourth. Most of the site is "under construction": there's simply the intro and and the page devoted to the author (some pretentious drivel vaguely cast in the form of modern pseudo-poetic language).

Musicline Publications Catalogue
Based in Staffordshire, Musicline specialises in musical play scripts for school and youth theatre, although they have diversified in pantos for adult groups. This is their online catalogue, arranged by categories - junior, senior, youth theatre, pantos. They also invite submissions from playwrights working in these fields.

The National Association of Youth Theatres
The NAYT is an organisation for both members and workers in the Youth Theatre movement. All the details are available at this site.

The National Independent Schools' Drama Association
The association was founded in 1993 to promote the study and practice of drama in independent (fee-paying) schools in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Membership is open to all independent schools. The Annual Conference and AGM is held each academic year at a member school.

The National Student Drama Festival
This festival, sponsored by the Sunday Times, the BBC, the Bush Theatre and Scarborough Borough Council, brings together students from all over the country once a year. This site gives a complete guide to the festival, how to take part as a group or as an individual, details of the venues, and of the National Student Theatre Company.

The National Youth Music Theatre
(Flash required) The site covers all aspects of this company, from a history, through details of its productions, to how young people can join and older people can assist in a voluntary capacity. For a Flash site, it downloads remarkably quickly.

The National Youth Music Theatre
Not an official site, but by the co-author of one of the shows they have performed. It gives basic details about the company.

The National Youth Theatre
At the moment (Jan. '99) the site is fairly basic - About (which gives a brief history), Auditions (arrangements and dates) and an email form to contact them. Having been going since the fifties and produced a lot of our leding actors, there's a lot that should go here. Let's hope it develops!

New Musicals
A site devoted to musicals by Gawen Robinson and Stephen Robertson. There are two full length - Notre Dame and The Old Curiosity Shop - and a number of small scale educational musicals by Hedgehog Musicals designed for children aged between 7 to 12. The full length shows have noth been produced by a youth theatre group.

NPLS Spectrum
Youth theatre company. Details of the show they will be perfroming in Windsor andf then taking to the 2003 Edinburgh Fringe: Tea! The Musical. A review, cast and crew details, song lyrics, details of performances at the Windsor and Edinburgh Fringes, and photos.

Odd Youth Theatre
Odd stands for Oxted Devised Drama, Oxted School in Surrey being where it began. Mainly interesting for details on the two shows it is taking to the Edinburgh Fringe in '99.

Oily Cart Theatre Company
Produces shows for the very young and for young people with learning difficulties. There are details of shows, and their Newsletter.

Onatti Theatre Company
The Onatti TC is a theatre in education company, based in the Midlands, which works in primary schools. There are details of its shows for KS1 and 2, photographs, "Evenings with OTC" and prices.

One More Time!
A site for the work of musician, writer and primary school headteacher Brian Beresford: musical plays and collections of songs for children in primary schools, choirs and youth groups.

Our Gang
Congleton Scouts' and Guides' Gang Show, held every two years at the Daneside Theatre. The next show is in December 1999. A one page site.

Peer Productions
A site for the youth arts activities of Nina Lemon and Jason Orbaum, working from Woking Youth Arts Centre, which include a full time training theatre company and a youth theatre.

Pendle Youth Theatre
One page about the group, a news page that gives a few details of the current production, and a past productions page which only mentions one show, Buggsy Malone.

Performers Theatre School
A theatre school in two cities for children and young people from 3 to 16 (London) and 3 to 18 (Liverpool). Full details of courses, news, how to join.

Performers
Another stage school for 6 to 18 year olds, in South Tyneside (Boldon) and Sunderland, run by former pop star David Ducasse (SCOOCH). Details of classes, staff, productions, fees and a weekly guide to what each class has done so that those who missed a class can catch up.

Playstage
Royalty-free school plays and pantomimes for children, written by a drama teacher and children themselves. There is secure online payment for buiying scripts, or you can download, complete and post an order form with a cheque. A wide range of plays for both primary and secondary are on offer.

Polka Children's Theatre
Based in Wimbledon, Polka is the only theatre in the UK exclusively for children. This is a smashing site, with all the details about the company, the theatre, the productions, and so on, that you could ever want to know. And there's an area for kids, too. A must-visit site for anyone interested in children's theatre.

Pop-Up
Theatre for children at Key Stages 1 and 2 (infant & junior). The usual details, plus two special projects: the Dramatic Links Project which brings writers together with children to develop the kind of theatre children like, and the Equal Voice Project, using drama to help children with low self-esteem.

Quantum Theatre
A Theatre in Education company which writes and performs material based on the National Curriculum for Science and The National Guidelines for Environmental Studies. The site introduces the company and has details of their shows, testimonials from schools and how to contact them. Two other pages (Booking and People) were under construction at the time of visiting.

Quicksilver Theatre Company
A company working in schools. Three tours a year: for 3-5 year olds, 7-1ll, and 6+. A reasonable amount of info - although the details of the shows sem to be missing - but the navigation is a bit eccentric.

The Rage Ensemble
A performing Arts Company for young people aged 15-19 who live in the Birmingham area, run by Rage, a professional theatre company. There's not a lot there: mainly details of past and present productions and an invitation to do a GNVQ Foundation course on Performing Arts with them.

Rainbow Theatre Company
Based in Worthing, West Sussex, this young people's theatre company site gives details of their audience shows and their workshop shows (including one based on theatre skills), and ofers special eevnts to schools. The photo section does not yet have any pictures (November '99).

RicNic Productions
A youth theatre based in Winchester which is run entirely by people under 21, with no adult involvement. It produces one musical a year in the school summer holidays. Details about the company and its shows, sponsorship, how to contact it and a password-protected members' area.

Round Midnight Theatre Company
Based in Birmingham. TIE, community, YT (Raw Talent). Examples of its work, including a company CV.

Sawston Theatre Company
(Cambridgeshire) Formerly Sawston Juniors, part of amateur company the Sawston Players. Membership 17 and under. There's a list of festival awards and details of past productions, with photographs.

Science CentreStage
A schools initiative from the Wellcome Trust which attempts to link together science and drama. The full details are here. We have an article on it on the site.

Scottish Youth Theatre
A very new site, parts of which were still under construction at the time of visiting. Details of what it does, past productions and job opportunities.

Shakespeare 4 Kids
Tours simplified Shakespearean productions and workshops to junior schools. Also provides adapted scripts for schools to produce their own Shakespeare plays.

Shell Connections
Shell Connections, a collaboration between Shell and the National Theatre, is "one of the world's largest celebrations of Youth Theatre. Produced by the National Theatre, Connections was established eleven years ago in response to a widespread demand for challenging new plays for young people to perform." The site has full details.
