The index of links to theatre societies in British universities - page 1

Bath University Student Theatre
The site has grown considerably since it was first listed. Now it carries a great deal of info about BUST, as it calls itself.

Bedlam Theatre (University of Edinburgh)
Details of how to get involved, what's on, reviews of previous shows, a FAQ, photos, venue hire.

Bradford University Theatre group
Just the programme for the Spring Term (as at 6th April, 1999) and a link to the site for the Theatre in the Mill, Bradford.

CAST: Cambridge University American Stage Tour
A regular tour by students. In September 2000 they performed Hamlet in a number of US student venues. The site gives the tour's aims, details of the production and lists of the benefits of being a venue and/or sponsoring the tour.

Castle Theatre Company
A university group based in University College, Durham. Details about the company, the venues it plays, its productions, auditions, and how to make contact. Sideways scrolling needed and you have to return to the Index page every time.

The Cecilian Society
The University of Glasgow's musicals society, includes photos and information about rehearsals and past productions (back to 1955), FAQ, membership, committee, and social events.

Dundee University Operatic and Musical Society (OPSOC)
Details about the society and its productions.

Durham Drama Festival
The aim of the DDF is "to promote involvement in theatre and to act as a forum for new work in theatre". A student festival which is in three parts: Five X Five in which five groups are given one act of Romeo and Juliet to perform in any way they wish, and then the whole thing is performed on the evening; one act plays and Take Away in which groups are given five phrases abd 24 hours later they come back and perform a fifteen minute play based on them. The site contains full details of the festival.

Durham Student Theatre
More like an amateur theatre site than a University one: about the group, shows, auditions, technical matters, costumes and props, their theatre, and membership details.

Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group
Although originating in the University of Edinburgh, this is not strictly a university group. They see themselves as an amateur group with a connection to the uni. The site gives details of the group and their productions.

Edinburgh University Theatre Society/Bedlam Theatre
An impressive site, and an impressive society which has the only student-run theatre in the UK. There are details of the theatre, its use as a Fringe venue and how it can be hired, plus what's on, information for members, shows back to '95, and details of FebFest, a festival of new writing.

Imperial College, London, Drama Society
This site has been redesigned and rewritten and is now much more up-to-date than in the past. It covers everything you need to know about the society. The highlight remains the Drama Handbook, which gives a very comprehensive overview of what is involved in putting on a show.

The International Theatre Company
(Sheffield University) An international company. Full details of what they do, their membership and their productions.

LSE Drama Society
The LSE is, of course, the London School of Economics. The site was last updated on 21st April, 1997, so a visit seems pretty pointless.

Loughborough Uni. Stage Soc.
Lots of detail about the society, but very much aimed at members rather than the general public. There are some brief but interesting pages on the authors of various plays the society has done.

The National Student Drama Festival
This festival, sponsored by the Sunday Times, the BBC, the Bush Theatre and Scarborough Borough Council, brings together students from all over the country once a year. This site gives a complete guide to the festival, how to take part as a group or as an individual, details of the venues, and of the National Student Theatre Company. All university-based drama fans should check it out.

The New Theatre, Nottingham University
The only completely student-run theatre in England: details of the theatre and how it is organised, its productions and members. There are lots of pohotos of people, productions and the place itself.

Oxford University Drama Society (OUDS)
A very comprehensive site for Oxford's premiere drama group. Still in development, with some pages "coming soon".
