Links to Welsh Theatre sites - Page 4.

Wales Arts International
An international showcase site for the arts in Wales, developed by the British Council in Wales and the Welsh Arts Council. Some interesting feature articles, a Gallery which features companies and individuals. Covers all the arts, not just theatre. In both Welsh and English. Cymraeg + Saesneg.

Wales Association for the Performing Arts
There are two sites, one in Welsh (Cymdeithas Celfyddydau Perfformio Cymru) and one in English. WAPA is an umbrella body for the professional performing arts in Wales. There are details of membership and members, a calendar and a section entitled "Briefing", which contains press releases and briefing documents. (English + Cymraeg)

Wales Millennium Centre/Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru
The official site for the iconic new building on Cardiff Bay, home to Welsh National Opera, Hijinx Theatre and numerous other organisations, as well as being, of course, a theatre. A great deal of information in both Welsh and English.

Wales (Springfield) Millennium Centre (Have Your Say)
Not everyone is a supporter of the WMC: the people behind this site certainly aren't. Parts of it set the Centre in Springfield (The Simpsons) and compares the management to characters from that series. Some of the comments on individuals would appear to me to be actionable. Travelling past the About Us page is fraught with danger: every time I tried it (with numerous browsers), the browser froze and had to be shut down. If you type "WMC" into Google, it comes up first as a sponsored link, with the official site second on the page. This site now seems to have been taken down (18th May, 2005).

What's On in Cardiff / Beth sydd 'mlaen yng Nghaerdydd
The Cardiff What's On site covers all aspects of leisure: this link takes you straight to the theatre page. It is a simple listing of what's on at the various theatre venues: The Chapter Arts Centre/Canolfan Celfyddidau Chapter, The New Theatre/Theatr Newydd, The Sherman Theatre/Theatr y Sherman, and other venues/mannau eraill. English + Welsh. Saesneg + Cymraeg.

Wales Theatre Company/Cwmni Theatr Cymru
Michael Bogdanov's new company, based at the Swansea Grand and touring throughout the UK. Details of the company and its aims, about Michael Bogdanov himself, how to contact the company and the latest news.

Where There's a Will
"So Scotland has a national theatre. It’s only got £7½ million but that’s 7½ more than us." An article on the Theatre in Wales website by Michael Bogdanov.

Wrexham Musical Theatre Society
Productions (past, present and future), a list of rehearsals, information about the society (history, technical, general, where they are based, and so on), youth section, backstage tour, merchandise and a mailing list. Much use of the [BACK] button required.

Y Gymraes
Cymraeg. Cyfarwyddwr, 3 sioau.

Theatre technicians in Wales
A new service from Keith Morris who is the creator of the Theatr Wales site. It covers costume designers, lighting designers, production managers, sound engineers and set designers.

Profiles
Profiles of key players on the Welsh theatre and performance scene. There are only three at the moment, but more are promised for the future.

Critical Articles and Reviews
Another new addition to the Theatre in Wales site: a series of articles about theatre in Wales and reviews of productions.

Planning Theatre's Legacy of Memory
An article on the Theatre in Wales site by Geraint Talfan Davies, Chairman, Arts Council of Wales, about what needs to be done to develop theatre in Wales.

A New York Diary
Welsh playwright Gary Owen writes a very amusing diary of his first trip to New York. From the Theatre in Wales site.

The State of Welsh Theatre
Peter Doran, artistic director of the Torch Theatre, looks at the state of theatre in Wales at the start of 2004. From the Theatre in Wales site.

Creating a Scene
Scottish theatre journalist Joyce McMillan, writing on the Thetare in Wales site, discusses the idea of a National Theatre for Wales.
