Dateline: 23rd March, 2003 The Night of 1000 Voices Owing to the indisposition of Dame Judi Dench, with great sadness, she has had to withdraw from this year's tribute charity concert in honour of Trevor Nunn on 4th May. The Night of 1000 Voices will now be hosted by Glenn Close and Roger Moore, CBE. The Variety Club Children's charity are also delighted to announce that Josefina Gabrielle, who recently played Laurey on Broadway in the National Theatre's production of Oklahoma!, and Graham Bickley, who is currently starring in the hit West End musical Ragtime, will both now be joining the star-studded evening. Due to unprecedented demand for tickets, an extra performance has been added at 4pm on Sunday 4th May. Love Changes Everything, Bali Hai, One Day More, Do You Hear The People Sing?, Summertime, It Aint Necessarily So, Oh! What A Beautiful Morning and Oklahoma! will be performed, together with a sprinkling of songs from Trevor Nunn's past productions which may not be so well known. Among those taking part will be Philip Quast, Judy Kuhn, Kelli James, Lauren Kennedy, Aled Jones and Michael McCarthy. The West End's distinguished maestro, David Firman, will once again conduct the massed musical forces and director Hugh Wooldridge will marshall the huge number of stellar performers in the event. In 2003, The Night of 1000 Voices will again support the Alan Jay Lerner Fund for Cancer Research at The Royal Marsden Hospital and this year's main beneficiary will be the Variety Club Children's Charity. Variety Club has spent over 50 years helping sick, disabled, and disadvantaged children throughout the UK have a better life. Variety's mission is to bring sunshine into the lives of children who are in need.
