Easter Rising to Become a Musical The Easter Rising in Dublin in 1916, which laid the foundations of the Irish state, is to become a musical, due to premiere in Dublin in 2011. 1916 the Musical, written by Simon Humphreys with music by Paul Atkins, Wayne Urquhart and David Christmas, will base a fictional love story around the factual events of the Easter Rising, following the lives of the historical and everyday characters, with a love triangle that leads to obsession, betrayal and ultimately revenge. The production company, 1916 Productions, will be holding open vocal auditions for a preliminary demo recording. A small selection of the tracks will be recorded to give an overview and a taste of this exciting, developing new musical.
