Arts Council England has announced its North East National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs), the organisations it will finance from 2018 to 2022.

Those of theatre and dance interest (including combined arts) are (annual grant in brackets):

  • Lawnmowers, Gateshead (£60,998)
  • Live Theatre, Newcastle (£626,723)
  • New Writing North, Newcastle (£332,133)
  • Northern Stage, Newcastle (£1,562,496)
  • November Club, Morpeth (£100,678)
  • Open Clasp Theatre Company, Newcastle (£177,043)
  • Queen’s Hall Arts, Hexham (£118,147)
  • The Maltings, Berwick (£176,387)
  • Theatre Hullabaloo, Darlington (£250,318)
  • TIN Arts, Durham (£81,453)
  • Unfolding Theatre, Newcastle (£105,000 – new NPO)
  • ZENDEH, Newcastle (£100,678)

There are 23 other NE museums and arts organisations (music, visual arts, literature) receiving NPO status, six of which are new.
