A New Theatre for Leeds
Seven Arts is a a newly built, fully raked, superbly equipped 100 seat
studio theatre, with bar, which aims to bring the best of professional
touring shows to Leeds. Based in Harrogate Road, Chapel Allerton, it
will open to the public in mid-June and an official launch will be held
on 07/07/07 at 7pm. From 12th July there will be seven nights of theatre
to celebrate the opening.
Thursday 12th
Theatre Under Fire (TUF) present
Cry My Zimbabwe
From the brutality of Zimbabwe to a British detention centre: three
young men seek refuge and self-respect. A vibrant play, pulsing with
music. Devised by TUF. Directed by Peter Mutanda
Runs for 60 mins. Not suitable for children under 12.
Friday/Saturday13th/14th
Normal Productions present
Normandy Villas
Born into an immigrant family, Vincent ends up a copper! Join him
in the cells for the night he is judged. Written and performed by
Martin Riley. Directed by Ray Brown.
Runs for 70 mins. Heritage Lottery Funded. Not suitable for children.
Wednesday 18th
Yellow Leaf Theatre present
Scribbler and Spouse
Everything you wanted to know about Soaps but didn't know who to ask.
Scribbler has been there, survived the hangover and carries the scars.
Written by James Robson. Directed by Chris Wilkinson.

Thursday 19th
Paper Birds Theatre Company
Accidentally Waiting to Happen
Three young women in the wrong place at the wrong time. An explosion
of live music, movement, whispers and feathers. Beautiful, disturbing.

Friday 20th
Norrmal Productions present
Vacant Possession
1986. Word spinning eccentric Joe lives with Maggie, his inflatable
friend. Gary buys Joe's house. Now Joe needs help with his bizarre
suicide attempts. Comedy. Written and directed by Ray Brown.

Saturday 21st
Scamp Productions present
I Miss Communism
Ines Wurth plays fifteen characters to tell her life story from Communist
Croatia to Capitalist California. Remarkable one woman show. Directed
by Mark Soper. Written by Ines Wurth and Mark Soper.

The name Seven was chosen to reflect the commitment of the Festival
to the wider Leeds 7 community and its vision of a creative corridor
within this area.
Chapel Allerton Arts festival has received a grant of almost £0.5m
from the European Unions ERDF fund towards the costs of the new
centre.
