Dateline: 5th January, 2004 ACE Research: Assistance Needed Under the creativepeople banner Arts Council, England is undertaking an action research project looking at the continuing professional development of Culturally Diverse Disabled Arts Professionals. The project will last until spring this year and feed directly into the creativepeople and creativecapital programmes. The intention is to embed this element of development in the arts council for years to come. In the early part of the year, Sue Williams and I will be travelling around the country with a Roadshow consulting with professionals across all artforms and impairment groups. We are seeking to find out what people are doing, how they are identifying and what can done in the sector and what Arts Council, England should be being to develop and maintain the presence of Culturally Diverse Disabled Arts Professionals in the arts. The main idea behind the research is the action element. In order to undertake the action research, I am looking for a variety of people who have been working in the arts and are culturally diverse to undertake Development Needs Analysis. This will lead to offering advice and support in the long-term Professional Development of all of the professionals that take part. It would be of great assistance to me if you could let me know of any artists and other professionals that you know of - or emerging artists - that would benefit from any or all elements of this work. This is an important part of Arts Council, England's commitment to
this thus far under resourced work and will lead the way in changing
the face of the sector. Therefore, your assistance and support will
be gratefully ACE Action
