Neil Darlison

Darlison Moves to ACE

Warwick Arts Centre's deputy director and head of programming, Neil Darlison, will be leaving next month to take up a new post of director of theatre (London) for Arts Council England.

As part of his role, he'll oversee the Arts Council's regularly-funded theatre portfolio which is made up of 87 organisations, including the National Theatre, Young Vic, Shared Experience, Frantic Assembly, Cheek by Jowl and Told by an Idiot.

Darlison directed the artistic development of the programme at Warwick Arts Centre and oversaw the growth of its commercial operations. He's worked on secondment with the National Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre and the Southbank Centre.

Darlison said, "I'm looking forward to working with the diverse mix of organisations in the capital that make theatre in London and the rest of the country so vibrant, relevant and ground-breaking.

"My work at Warwick Arts Centre over the years has been instrumental in preparing me for this challenging new role.

"Theatre in London is among the most exciting in the world, the work keeps getting better and the organisations that produce it more innovative. I'm looking forward immensely to being part of that."

Alan Rivett, director of Warwick Arts Centre, said, "After 20 years at Warwick Neil leaves an extraordinary legacy of surprise and adventure in the programme which we'll cherish. I'm sure all those who know Neil will want to wish him well in his new post. We'll miss him."

Darlison will leave Warwick Arts Centre on Friday, June 5th.
