Perfect Pitch Convinces ACE Arts Council England has awarded a grant of £188,860 to Perfect Pitch, the music theatre showcase, to enable it to develop a "developmental infrastructure" for the genre. "Traditionally, musical theatre is considered to be a commercially sustainable artform which doesnt require public subsidy," Moira Sinclair of ACE LOndon said. "However, there is a definite need for investment in the developmental infrastructure which will help support the next generation of musical theatre practitioners in this country. We dont expect results overnight, but our investment is helping create conditions where emerging talent can thrive." This follows a grant of £45,000 which ACE gave to Perfect Pitch to explore the viability of a support network. Founded in 2006 by executive producer Andy Barnes, Perfect Pitch mounted its first West End showcase at Trafalgar Studios in November 2008 and its second is due there in November this year.
