Arts Council of Wales: Lottery Grants for 2003-4

The Arts Council of Wales (Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru) has announced its Lottery grants for the coming financial year (2003-4). Theatre and Drama-related grants are:

Green Ginger A four-month drama project to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Green Ginger which will be held throughout various venues in Wales. £5,020
Soundplay Ltd A six-month project from February 2003 to conduct radio drama workshops with ethnic minority groups from Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Newport. £16,060
Small World Theatre A one-year project to increase the capacity of Small World Theatre in Cardigan through increasing the effectiveness of administrative support and staffing. £10,890
Small World Theatre A one-year drama based project (‘Safe?’) running in fifteen Swansea schools in partnership with Global Connections and the Welsh Refugee Council. £9,040
Cymdeithas y Ddrama Gymraeg Abertawe Production of plays twice a year through the medium of Welsh at the Taliesin Arts Centre, Swansea commencing in April 2003. £1,265
Prosiect Ieuenctid Cyd-enwladol Dyffryn Taf a'r Cylch A four-month music and drama project involving young people in Whitland, St Clears and Trelech, Carmarthenshire to create an Easter Performance. £2,520
Llandovery Theatre Committee A two-year project involving drama, film and performance workshops for children living in the Llandovery area between the ages of 6-18 years, culminating in the production of a video. £5,020
Cradoc C.P. School A six-week project involving ten primary schools in the Brecon area to work with Lynn Plowman, Composer, Martyn Riley, Lyricist/Script writer and Derek Cobley, Drama/Script writer culmintating in a performance at Theatr Brycheiniog and the production of a CD. £3,550
Play Montgomeryshire A two-day arts experience for young people aged 11-20 years with special needs, along with their siblings and friends in collaboration with Montgomeryshire Youth Theatre in Welshpool, Powys. £3,020
Saib Youth Theatre A six-month drama project based at the Ammanford Miners Theatre to create a drama aimed at young people in the Amman Valley with artists Llio Silyn and Janet Aethwy. £4,847
Landscape Radio and Recording Association A twelve-month project involving Landscape Radio and Recording Association comprising digital video, audio, drama and writing workshops in Presteigne along with the purchase of a digital stills camera. £4,220

Theatr na n'Óg A project working with young people in Drefaldwyn, Powys which will culminate in a performance at the National Eisteddfod in Meifod 2003. £11,640
Merlin Youth Theatre Project funding to enable the production and touring of a 'Child's Christmas in Wales' by Merlin Youth Theatre, based in Carmarthenshire. £4,720

Cwmni'r Cudyll Coch Sound, lighting equipment and a trailer for Cwmni'r Cudyll Coch an amateur drama company, based in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. £7,498
Ammanford Miners Theatre Two-year development funding for the Ammanford Miners Theatre to continue building audiences in the theatre and to increase scope for participatory activity in the arts in the Amman Valley. £10,950
Queen Elizabeth Cambria Comprehensive School Purchase of equipment to enable the development of the new drama studio at Queen Elizabeth Cambria School, Carmarthen as a community facility. £25,745
Theatr na n'Óg Two-year funding to enable Theatr na n'Og's administrator to attend the part-time postgraduate Diploma in Arts Management course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. £3,195
Builth Wells Community Arts A four-month project by Builth Wells Community Arts to produce a community play to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dylan Thomas' first reading of Under Milkwood. £5,020
Volcano Theatre Company Funding to enable Volcano Theatre Company's administrator to attend a Theatrical Management Association marketing course. £801
Red Kite Theatre Funding for Red Kite Theatre to produce an annual community play, performed at Clyro Court between 4 - 6 December, 2002. £3,620
