Lloyd Webber Hunting for Partner?

Following on the news that Andrew Lloyd Webber is on the verge of selling four of his West End theatres to US producer Max Weitzenhoffer come reports that he is looking for a partner to run the business side of the Really Useful Group. A report in The Times says that Lloyd Webber said, “I intend to maintain a significant, if not all my current stake in the music houses" and a report in the US trade journal Variety said that a spokesman told them that, in fact, he may decide to keep the business as it is.

According to The Guardian, Lloyd Webber is considering selling off more of his theatres and the rights to musicals Cats and Phantom of the Opera. However, the paper reports, he is not expected to make any decisions until July. Other sources suggest September is a more likely time.

Nonetheless Ingenious Media, a specialist media and entertainment investment and advisory group, is understood to be handling the bidding process. It is reported that Michael Grade, who is currently head of the BBC, is putting together a £290m bid for RUG, backed by the Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays Bank.
