Andrew Lloyd Webber has bought a string of London theatres from his partners, equity group Bridgepoint, and, from 30th November, will become sole owner of the London Palladium, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Palace, Her Majesty's, the Gielgud, the Cambridge and the New London. He will also have a share in the Adelphi. Nica Burns and Max Weitzenhoffer recently bought the Apollo, the Duchess, the Lyric and the Garrick from Really Useful Theatres and took over their management on 1st October. In 2000 Lloyd Webber and Bridgepoint formed Really Useful Theatres and paid £87.5m for all eleven theatres and a ticketing company. The amount paid to Bridegpoint in the latest deal has not been disclosed. He has also announced that he will spend £10m on refurbishing the theatres over the next five years.
