Dateline: 14th June, 2007
Summer at BAC BAC, currently continuing to raise funds to secure its long-term future, has announced its summer programme theimaginarybody present their second play Food, which won a Fringe-First during its sell out run at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival. Top chef Frank Byrne has one ambition in life - to win the coveted third Michelin star. When he finally gets it, he becomes a world celebrity, adored and scrutinised by the media. Set in the turbulent world of celebrity chefs, Food is a journey inside a man's mind; a man who realises that when you aim high, you've only got further to fall. Food runs from 30th June to 22nd July. From 24th July to 12th August, BAC introduces the winner of the celebrated JMK Young Director's Award 2007, Polly Findlay, and her adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Findlay's production retells this classic story as a fast moving chamber thriller; as hope turns to fear and horror story takes over from fairy tale, two of Verona's children are driven helter-skelter into a tragedy not of their own making. The season culminates on 17th September with the first preview of BAC's collaboration with Punchdrunk, The Masque of the Red Death. All Friday and Saturday nights are already sold out. Punchdrunk and BAC will create a journey into the macabre world of a devastated land with their co-production, which is inspired by the classic short stories of Edgar Allan Poe. This production is the first of BAC's Playground Projects in which RIBA award winning architect Steven Tompkins (Haworth Tompkins Architects) will be working with BAC's Artistic Director David Jubb to unlock the potential and adventure of BAC's home, the Old Town Hall. The Masque of the Red Death will be an indoor promenade performance lasting up to three hours. Also in the season are a number of BAC's famous Scratch Nights.
Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
