BAFTA Rising Stars
Three British actors have been shortlisted for the BAFTA Rising Star
Award which is intended to recognise new talent. All must have appeared
in a BAFTA-nominated film.
The three are:
- Noel Clarke played Mickey in Doctor Who and also wrote and
appeared in Kidulthood, then wrote, directed and appeared in
Adulthood. He won the Olivier for Most Promising Newcomer in
2003 for Where Do We Live at the Royal Court
- Rebecca Hall (daughter of Sir Peter Hall) appeared in The Prestige,
Frost/Nixon and Woody Allen's Vicky Christina Barcelona.
She won the Ian Charleson Award in 2003 for her performance in Mrs
Warren's Profession and was nominated again for her performance
as Rosalind in her father's production of As You Like It
- Toby Kebbell has appeared in Control (Best Supporting Actor
Award at the British Independent Film Awards) and Guy Ritchie's latest
picture RocknRolla and has just finished filming Prince
of Persia: The Sands of Time. Thetare includes Enemies
(Almeida) and Journey's End (Playhouse)
Also nominated are Irish actor Michael Fassbender and Canadian Michael
Cera.
