Dateline: 16th March, 2005
Billy Elliot Previews Postponed Previews for Billy Elliot the Musical, which were due to begin on 24th March, have been put back by a week and will now start on 31st. Extra previews have been scheduled for 14th, 20th and 27th April. The opening night will still be 11th May at the Victoria Palace. "This is one of the most ambitious projects I have been involved with," Stephen Daldry said. "The decision has been made to push back our preview performances in order to give our company, with a cast including 45 children, a little extra time so they are as fully prepared as possible. The young Billy Elliots in particular who are making their professional stage debuts in the West End, will benefit from a little extra time to familiarise themselves with all aspects of the production." It has also been announced that Anne Emery will play Grandma, replacing Anne Rogers who withdrew from the producton last week. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
