Arts Council England has commissioned an options report on how to achieve the physical infrastructure and necessary development needs for Black Minority Ethnic theatre that best meets the needs of the sector now and for the forthcoming years. A consultation process will take place in Autumn 2005 with regional meetings in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham, Manchester and Bristol; a series of one to one meetings and written submissions. The Sustained Theatre consultation process will be led by Baroness Young of Hornsey, who originally sat on the Theatre Review Committee, supported by an Advisory Group of BME arts practitioners. The final report and recommendations will be presented to Council in February 2006 for consideration. "It is a good moment to take stock of the challenges and opportunities which those involved in the sector face now and in the not too distant future," Baroness Young said. "The consultation process presents an opportunity for practitioners to articulate how that future should be shaped." The consultation meetings will run during November 2005. To take part in the consultation please visit www.artscouncil.org.uk/sustainedtheatre Or alternatively you can make a written submission. The details for this are on the Web Site If you have any problems reaching the site and or are facing technical difficulties please email BlackTheatreConsultation@artscouncil.org.uk and the relevant information will be forwarded to you in a Word document. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
