Bristol Old Vic

Coming Soon to Bristol

The Bristol Old Vic has announced its spring/summer season.

Highlights include a new production of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, directed and designed by David Fielding (April 29-May 28). Fielding's popera and theatre productions include his 'legendary' Xerxes with Nicholas Hytner for the ENO and his acclaimed Richard II starring Samuel West for the RSC.

Other highlights include a re-telling of The Odyssey, (Feb 18-March 12), a co-production with West Yorkshire Playhouse, directed by David Farr who is re-joined by designer Angela Davies (they worked together on the acclaimed Dream for Bristol Old Vic and the recent Twelfth Night).

Finally, another biggie is a new version of The Turn ofthe Screw (April 2-23) based on the short story by Henry James, by Nick Dear, best known for his screenplay of Persuasion and Power (2003) at the National Theatre.The production is directed by joint Bristol Old Vic director Simon Reade.

Other productions include a visit by the Kneehigh Theatre production of The Bacchae (Jan 25-Feb 12) and Elmina's Kitchen (March 15-19).
