Bristol Old Vic Summer Season An all-male version of Oscar Wilde's classic The Importance of Being Earnest opens the summer season at Bristol Old Vic. Simon Trinder, who was widely praised for his performances in the RSC Spanish Golden Age season, is among the ensemble. The production, which is directed by acclaimed director-designer David Fielding, is now open and runs until May 28. Other highlights of an eclectic season include a transfer of the Donmar Warehouse's premier of Neil La Bute's new play, This is How It Goes (July 12-16, which promises a "forensic look at race and infidelity". Also transferring from London is Tristan & Yseult (September 15-October 1) by Cornish troupe Kneehigh Theatre. The play, which has been widely praised, can currently be seen at the National Theatre. Other productions include English Touring Theatre's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, by Tom Stoppard (July 5-9), while MayFest, Bristol's annual festival of physical and visual theatre, runs from May 6 to 28. The summer season also includes productions in the Studio theatre by drama school students of John Webster's 'Tis Pity She's a Whore, The Front Page by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, Company by Stephen Sondheim, as well as a celebration of Shakespeare featuring "scenes, sonnets and songs".
