Unveiling the shortlists Robert Dawson Scott, Convenor of CATS, said, “The first few months of the National Theatre of Scotland have proved to be both a popular and critical success. It is in line with its innovative model that all its nominations are the result of partnerships and co-productions with the existing talent pool. Once again we were struck by the quality of work being produced across the country, from Shetland to East Lothian and from large and small companies.”

The 2006 Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland will be presented at a special ceremony at The Discovery Centre, Dundee on Sunday 4th June. The ceremony is sponsored by City of Discovery.

The 2006 Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland were open to any professional theatre work produced in Scotland between 1st May, 2005 and 29th April 29. 191 different, new productions that opened in the year were considered for the Awards, of which 103 were new plays and 12 productions aimed wholly at children under the age of 16.
