The video blog

Panto Video Blog

A sneak behind the scenes preview of this year's popular Customs House (South Shields) pantomime has gone live on the worldwide web with the launch of a special blog on the venue's new website.

Director, writer and star of Babes in the Wood, Ray Spencer, is giving viewers a backstage glimpse of what goes into producing the show, which attracts over 23,000 people every year.

The blog, which has been sponsored by Newcastle design agency OneBestWay, will follow day one of rehearsals through to the opening of the show on 4th December. After that people will be able to listen to audience reaction and view snippets of the pantomime.

Ray Spencer said, "We are very aware of how important the web is as a means of communicating to new and existing audiences. To tie in with the launch of our exciting new website we thought it would be a great idea to offer people a new way of finding out about the pantomime and what goes on behind the scenes.

"Even when the panto has finished we will continue to run a blog with regular updates on what's coming up in the season and other Customs House news."

The new website includes online booking, a kid's page, new search facilities and media page.

Paul Newcombe, production director of the website designers OneBestWay, said, "OneBestWay thought the blog would be a great way for The Customs House to reach their panto audience and show them what goes on in the background.

"The blog makes them stand out as a forward-thinking company using innovative technology to communicate to their valued audience."

The blog is on the front page of the theatre's website and needs Quicktime installed to view it. Quicktime can be downloaded free from the site.
