Dateline: 29th June, 2010
What "Curtailing" Means On 17th June the Deopartment for Culture, Media and Sport announced the cuts it would be making this year to save £73m. Among them was the decision to "curtail" A Night Less Ordinary, the free theatre ticket scheme fof those under 26. Now the department has announced what "curtailing" means. All contracts with existing venues which have signed up to the scheme will be honoured but no new venues will be allowed to join. This means that the scheme as it stands at present will continue until 31st March, 2011, although existing venues can opt out if they wish to do so by contacting ACE by midday on Friday 2nd July. The curtailment will save £100,000.
