Declan Mulholland Trust

What has become an annual event in Camden, a charity performance to raise money for the Declan Mulholland Trust, will take place on Sunday, April 25th at the Theatro Technis, 26 Crowndale Road NW1 (nearest tube Mornington Crescent), starting at 7 p.m., bar opens at 6 p.m. Admission is £10, concessions £5, all tickets at the door.

Appearing are many well-known actors: Larry Dann (Sgt Alec Peters, The Bill); Alan Ford (Brick Top Polford, Snatch); Michael Loughnan (A Grain of Sand in Lambeth); John Lyons (DS Toolan, A Touch of Frost); Phyllis McMahon (Sister Augusta, The Magdalene Sisters); Dudley Sutton (Nana Moon's new fiancé Wilfred Atkins, Eastenders); and top Irish musician Micky Flynn and his band, (appeared twice in Ballykissangel). All are freely donating their time. Other performers and musicians will appear, including young actors from the East 15 Acting School, University of Essex.

The evening will consist of music, singing, extracts from plays, monologues and general entertainment of the kind often associated with music hall.

The actor Declan Mulholland lived in Camden and died suddenly in Primrose Hill in 1999.

As a legacy to encouraging a new generation of actors, he left the residuals that come in from his work to help students financially while they train. The money goes to the Declan Mulholland Trust, set up for this purpose. The Trust then makes one or more scholarships available (depending on the amount of money raised) to deserving trainees.

Declan is perhaps best known for being the first on-set Jabba the Hutt in Star Wars before the computerised image was developed.

He appeared in thirteen films, including Charge of the Light Brigade, Damn the Defiant!, and Time Bandits.

He also appeared on TV in Dr Who (two episodes), Lovejoy, One by One, Quatermass (two episodes), and The Avengers.

NOTE the show contains strong language and is not really suitable for children
