No £5 Late Nights at the EIF The late night concerts with tickets at £5 which were a feature of the 2004 Edinburgh International Festival will not be held this year in a bid to increase income. Although in general EIF ticket prices have kept pace with inflation, the cost of events has increased by considerably more and there are fears that the £5 tickets did not attract new audiences but just allowed regular concertgoers to attend more cheaply. There will, however, still be £5 tickets available for most EIF events under the "turn up and try it" scheme. A spokesperson said that it was not a case of the £5 Late Nights being axed, as they had only run twice (in 2002 and 2004). "That particular audience development route is not one we will go down next year." Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
