Grumpy Old Women to Travel More

In response to exceptional demand for tickets, Grumpy Old Women Live is to return to theatres up and down the country for a 47-date run from the 4th October. The new dates follow a complete sell-out spring tour and a successful month-long West End run. Refreshing the critically acclaimed show, Jenny Eclair will now be joined by brand new moaners, Annette Badland, the Olivier Award nominated stage/television actress; and Rhona Cameron, an award-winning comedian who - while often on our screens - is still probably best known to the nation for her memorable appearance on I'm A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here (ITV1). Scary enough on their own, together they are a force of nature.

Jenny Eclair said, "We are all chuffed to bits to see the show going back out on the road. Secretly Judith [Holder] and I hope that it will run for ever and that one day there will be a Grumpy Idol series, where loads of middle-aged women frighten the living daylights out of Simon Cowell!"

2006 has already seen a number of Grumpy Old… projects become hits in their own right. In addition to the success of the live show, this year saw Grumpy Old Women and Grumpy Old Men (Both BBC2) return with second and third series. These were followed by a brand new BBC2 series called Grumpy Old Holidays, which regularly attracted more viewers than Love Island (ITV1) in its primetime slot. This autumn will also see the debut of The Grumpy Guides To … (BBC2), while Grumpy Old Men (series one) is being released on DVD by 2 Entertain/BBC and two new Grumpy Old… books will be published by Orion.

The live show is written by Perrier Award-winning comedian Jenny Eclair andJudith Holder (best-selling author of the first Grumpy Old Women book and producer of the hit TV series). The show was script edited by Richard Herring, also script editor for the latest series of the multi award-winning Little Britain (BBC1).
