Gone With the Wind to Be Shortened Trevor Nunn's production of Margaret Martin's musical version of Gone With the Wind (New London) is to be shortened, the producers have told The Daily Mail. "Even the people who love the show have said it's a bit long," producer Aldo Scrofani told the paper, and he added that he agreed and that cuts will be made by the end of this week or the beginning of next. He emphasised the producers' commitment to the show and said that at no point had anyone even discussed the possibility of early closure. May, he added, is usually a difficult month in the West End, but this will not affect the production and Gone With the Wind will certainly run into June. In his reveiw, Philip Fisher commented on the length of the show. "Despite some fairly heavy cutting during previews" he wrote, "at 3¾ hours, Sir Trevor's adaptation is pretty much the same length as David O. Selznick's classic film version. That is very long for a musical and his problem might well be falling between two stools."
