Cardiff Musicals Festival: Change of Programme

The final night of the International Music Theatre Festival in Cardiff was originally to have been Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem but due to the problems with scheduling, this performance has been cancelled and in its place there is to be a celebration of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music, together with other surprise items.

Welsh performers Charlotte Church, Steve Balsamo, Shân Cothi and Wynne Evans combine with West End musical stars to provide an evening with a two piano accompaniment. This unique concert will take place in the beautiful setting of Llandaff Cathedral on Sunday 3 November at 7.30pm. The concert will be in aid of The Prince's Trust Cymru. Tickets are available from the Festival Hotline: 0870 904 2003.

Charlotte Church is Cardiff's own super-star with remarkable international appeal. Amongst other songs throughout the evening, she will be singing Rainbow High from Evita.

Popular Welsh musical theatre star, Steve Balsamo, first came to prominence in the title role of Jesus Christ Superstar when it was revived in London's West End. Steve performed at the spectacular Opening Gala and will repeat his outstanding performance of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar, at the final night of the Festival.

Shân Cothi and Wynne Jones will sing a selection of works including some of the best known music of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Shân Cothi is a much-loved and versatile singer who has sung an enormous range of operatic work and concert recitals including the BBC's Music Under the Stars with Bryn Terfel and Michael Ball at the inaugural Faenhol Festival in North Wales. She also made her West End debut as Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera.

Camarthen born Wynne Jones was the Principal Tenor with Welsh National Opera for many years which encompassed all the major operas including La Traviata and La Bohème. He has also sung with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera North and Scottish Opera, and is currently on tour in WNO's production of Die Fledermaus.
