Dateline: 1st June, 2007
Wednesday's preview performance of Lord of the Rings at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane was cancelled after 35 minutes when an actor, Adam Salter, was injured by stage hydraulics. His leg was damaged, although not broken, and he received hospital treatment after the emergency servces were called to the theatre. Performances on Thursday and Friday have also been cancelled to allow time for the staging to be modified. The next performance will be the matinee on Saturday 2nd June. Refunds or exchanges will be made and ticket holders should contact their point of sale. Producer Kevin Wallace explained that health and safety concerns made the cancellations inevitable but added that no similar accidents had occurred before in London or Toronto. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
