Dateline: 30th September, 2005
West End Revival for Bolt Classic Robert Bolt's 1960 classic play A Man for All Seasons is to return to the West End. It opens at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 3rd January 2006 (previews from 21st December) and is booking initially to 8th April. Directed by Michael Rudman, designed by Paul Farnsworth, lighting by Nick Richings and produced by Bill Kenwright, it will star Martin Shaw as Sir Thomas More, and the cast includes Paul Shelley as Norfolk, Daniel Flynn as Henry VIII, Brian Poyser as Cardinal Wolsey, Tim Frances as Cranmer, Alison Fiske as More's wife Alice and Sophie Shaw as his wife Margaret. The original 1960 production was at the Globe Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, now the Gielgud, and starred Paul Scofield who went on to win a Tony for the Broadway priduction and an Oscar for the 1966 film.
