News from the Midlands

Ghouls and ghosts, chills and chuckles!

Derby Playhouse has announced its autumn-winter season and for the first time in many years it won't be staging a pantomime.

The four-play season, from September to January, features Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, Dracula by Liz Lochhead, Joe Orton's Loot and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

Traditional Panto in Derby

Panto fans in Derby will be able to see a traditional show though - the city's Assembly Rooms will be hosting its first-ever pantomime, Aladdin, which will feature "an all-star cast" which has yet to be announced.

The city council has brought in West End production company Paul Holman Associates which is in talks with "top TV stars" to appear in the show which will run from December 10th to January 4th.
