Stafford-Clark Has Stroke The artistic director of Out of Joint, Max Stafford-Clark suffered a stroke last week and has been fitted with a pacemaker but is expected to make a full recovery and return to work in the autumn. Currently Out of Joint, which he founded in 1993, is producing The Overwhelming in the National's Cottesloe. Alan Ayckbourn, who suffered a stroke in February, has announced that he will return to work in September to direct the play on whcih he was working before the stroke, If I Were You, his seventieth play which will run at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre from 12th October to 11th November.
